Sip Sustainably: New York

When it comes to ordering a beer at the bar, the number of options can be a bit overwhelming. With so many craft brews to choose from nowadays, many people go the safe route, and buy a tasteless light beer just to avoid the whole decision in the first place. With this in mind, we put together a short list of our favorite eco-friendly beers from the New York area, to hopefully make that beer selection process a little easier the next time around. If you happen to come across one of these brews, we highly suggest trying it out; we promise you won't regret it!

Always remember to drink responsibly and sustainably.

Brooklyn Brewery, Brooklyn

The Brooklyn Brewery continues to be one of the most notable eco-friendly brewers in the nation. They constantly strive to become as sustainable as possible in all areas of their company, whether it be the brewery, the office, or the tasting room. They even founded what they call their “Green Team”, which is comprised of members from each of their different departments, who constantly work together to try and find ways to further reduce their environmental footprint.

Genesee Brewing Company, Rochester

Genesee Brewing Company is one of the largest and oldest breweries in the country, and they are currently taking some major steps to reduce their environmental footprint. They recently began a massive expansion and renovation to create what the company is calling an “Eco brewery District.” This project will install a new "advanced" brewing system, which will significantly reduce the plant's environmental impact by reducing energy consumption, conserving water, and reducing emissions.
